The WSSL Board of Directors would like your opinion on a variety of issues. Please express your thoughts by answering the following questions.

    DEMOGRAPHICS

    PURPOSE OF THE LEAGUE

    Our bylaws state the following: “The League was formed with the overall purpose of assisting in the development and promotion of slow pitch senior softball for players in Williamsburg, Virginia and the surrounding areas.”

    In addition to supporting the overall purpose, the league has in the past organized and provided funding for members' social activities. In the future, what should be the league's role in social activities?

    SUMMER BREAK

    We currently take a 6-week break to both avoid some of the hottest days in the summer and to give players an opportunity to take a vacation without missing games. Please choose one of the following to indicate how long you think the break should be.

    NOVEMBER LEAGUE (Jamestown Division Players Only)

    In 2022 and 2023, the Jamestown Division held a one month, 8-game, 4-team (different teams/managers from the regular season) November League to help guide the transition to 2 divisions. Assuming field approval from the WP&R, we are considering providing it again.  We would anticipate a separate cost of $5-$7 per player to offset field costs, etc. Please indicate if you would be interested in playing in a 2025 November League.

    LENGTH OF REGULAR SEASON

    For the last four years, our season has been played from early April to late October. Please indicate your preference for the 2025 regular season (lengthening the regular season would preclude the option of having a November League.

    MID-SEASON TOURNAMENT

    In 2024, the Yorktown Division held a mid-season tournament.  In 2025, we are considering holding a tournament for each division. Do you want a mid-season tournament for your division?

    OPENING DAY

    In 2024, the Jamestown Division opening day was held on the first Tuesday of the season and the Yorktown Division opening day was held on the first Thursday of the season.  This meant each division lost one play date.
    Please indicate your preference for 2025 opening day.

    HEAT/COLD INDEX

    Currently the WSSL will not play games when the heat index (temperature plus humidity) is forecast at 95 degrees or more during the early and/or late games.  We do not have a similar cold index (temperature plus wind)..
