WSSL members are proud, civic-minded members of the greater Williamsburg-area community. Besides patronizing local restaurants and other businesses, we also engage in funding drives for local charities. As our league continues to grow, we hope to expand our contributions to the community.

In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the Williamsburg Senior Softball League (WSSL) held its second annual fundraiser softball game on October 20, 2024 to raise money for the National Breast Cancer Foundation. The women of the league once again took the lead in organizing the game. The 2024 event raised over $7400 for the foundation.

March 2024
The Williamsburg Senior Softball League (WSSL) held a fundraiser for the Williamsburg Area Meals on Wheels (MoW) at Eggheads Diner in Gloucester. Eggheads donated a portion of the proceeds from their meals on March 2, 2024 to the WSSL, who then gave the funds to MoW. In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the Williamsburg Senior Softball League (WSSL) held an exhibition softball game on October 29, 2023 to raise money for the National Breast Cancer Foundation. The women of the league initiated this idea and took the lead in organizing the game. The event raised over $4500 for the foundation. We expect to make this an annual event.

The Williamsburg Senior Softball League presented a check to the Williamsburg Area Meals on Wheels on September 2, 2022. WSSL members collected funds during their Tuesday and Thursday morning games to support the organization. The WSSL made a group outing on July 10th to watch the Peninsula Pilots play a home game at War Memorial Stadium in Hampton, VA. Four members of the WSSL were honored to throw out the first pitches –- Barry Marten, Carl Olexa, Sharon DiChiara, and Cat Law. Barry and Carl are the two oldest members of the league, while Sharon and Cat are the two youngest.
