WSSL members are proud, civic-minded members of the greater Williamsburg-area community. Besides patronizing local restaurants and other businesses, we also engage in funding drives for local charities. As our league continues to grow, we hope to expand our contributions to the community.
Supporting Local and National Charities
March 2024
The Williamsburg Senior Softball League (WSSL) held a fundraiser for the Williamsburg Area Meals on Wheels (MoW) at Eggheads Diner in Gloucester. Eggheads donated a portion of the proceeds from their meals on March 2, 2024 to the WSSL, who then gave the funds to MoW. Pictured are David Mickle (Eggheads owner and WSSL member), Catherine Upton (Executive Director and CEO for Williamsburg Area Meals on Wheels), Chris Heywood (WISC owner), John Stout (WSSL commissioner), and Bill Leonard (WSSL Jamestown Division president).

October 2023
In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the Williamsburg Senior Softball League (WSSL) held an exhibition softball game on October 29, 2024 to raise money for the National Breast Cancer Foundation. The women of the league initiated this idea and took the lead in organizing the game. The event raised over $4500 for the foundation. We expect to make this an annual event.
September 2022
The Williamsburg Senior Softball League presented a check to the Williamsburg Area Meals on Wheels on September 2, 2022. WSSL members collected funds during their Tuesday and Thursday morning games to support the organization.
